Immunity certificate: it has finally been revealed what it is good for!
More than 3.5 million Hungarian people have already received at least their first vaccination. As a result of that, the government gradually eases the restrictions. Those who have received the first vaccine will receive the immunity certificate even if a second vaccination is required to achieve full protection.
“Domestic tourism could start and life could resume in the second half of next week when the number of people vaccinated will reach four million,” said PM Viktor Orbán on Friday. Hotels, theatres, concert halls, gyms, swimming pools, cinemas, libraries, zoos, and the interior part of restaurants can open. However, it may easily be that
all these places can only be visited by those who have an immunity certificate.
In addition to them, those under the age of 18 and those who have been infected with the coronavirus can also visit these places. People who have been infected must prove that they have actually gone through the disease. Pál Frankó, the president of the National Association of Rural Accommodation Providers, told vg.hu that there were those who had already cancelled their reservation because they did not have an immunity certificate. Frankó believes that both guests and hosts are well-informed, but there is a lot of uncertainty.
There will be no oral exam for graduation this year, so the pre-season can start as early as mid-May. Tamás Flesch, president of the Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants, believes that labour could be a problem. It is not known at this time how many have temporarily or permanently switched from hospitality to another area of work.
According to Gergely Gulyás, those with an immunity certificate can also be exempted from the current curfew. 65% of the more than half a million Hungarians who completed the National Consultation believe that those who have an immunity certificate should receive benefits against certain restrictive measures.
An immunity certificate is automatically issued to anyone who has been vaccinated with any type of vaccine. The card does not show the expiration date or the type of vaccination. Those who have been confirmed to have the coronavirus infection will also receive an immunity certificate. However, in this case, the card is valid for six months from the date of recovery. For those who are presumed to have been infected based on the antibody test, the immunity certificate is valid for four months.
There is no expiration date for vaccinated people because it is not know how long the vaccine will protect against the virus.
Telex.hu says that if a card expires, it cannot be extended. Those whose cards expires can take the test again at their own expense and request a new card for around €9.
Many criticise PM Orbán’s decision because they think it is discriminatory. They said that it has previously been said that no one should be disadvantaged by not taking the vaccine. However, the new provision is the opposite. You can also see how divisive the decision is in Viktor Orbán’s Facebook post. Some are happy to finally be able to go out again, others say it is blackmail and a violation of liberties.

It is blackmail. It is a violation of liberties. If the card doesn’t say the type of vaccine then travel in the future will be made more difficult as many countries don’t recognise the Chinese or Russian vaccine. Also, if we have to walk down the street wearing a mask, even when there’s no one about then how does it work being able to sit on a crowded terrace and not wear a mask at all. When will the government understand that only at least two to three weeks after the second vaccination are people immune, not one or two days after the first. Listen to the science.
There are no longer ANY excuses for Hungarians above the age of 18 to NOT be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Accordingly, those individuals who wish to exercise their ‘democratic rights’ by REFUSING to receive a vaccine for coronavirus must be treated appropriately.
After all, those Hungarians who are prepared to be vaccinated also have ‘rights’ which may well be ‘violated’ by those foolish / misguided / selfish individuals who in effect become modern day versions of ‘Typhoid Mary’.
Hungarians have suffered enough over the past 16 months without having to put up with DELIBERATE ACTIONS by certain people which may prolong the situation.
NO VACCINATION = RESTRICTED ACCESS / ACTIVITIES.
For Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna PARTIAL protection is approximately 12 DAYS after the first injection. Full immunity approximately TWO WEEKS after the second injection. The second dose may be given around SIX WEEKS after the first, as that’s the way the vaccines work. Who knows with Sputnik V and Sinopharm and the latter still hasn’t published their stage three trial results (the Lancet). If someone had their first injection today, and issued a card tomorrow, they’re not protected. The whole process of becoming immune will take at least TWO MONTHS. The pictures showing busy terraces, asking for trouble……. it’s about being sensible.
People should not be led like sheep to be vaccinated. There are many unanswered questions so forcing the vaccine on the public is not the answer. What will happen if longer term the vaccine proves ineffective against mutations?will everyone be forced to get a new vaccine? It would be better to help strengthen peoples immune systems naturally, allow those who want a vaccine to get it but also continue with ppe and social distancing. It seems to me the only area benefiting is big Pharma who are making billions of euros from the pandemic which makes me wonder was the whole scenario deliberately created!!!!
Its not automatically sent out to those who have registered that they live in Hungary but do not have permanent residency yet.Unless we take out residency we are treated as if we have not been vaccinated
It’s crazy that so much discremination is done because of a virus which isn’t much worse than a flu.
If we look at total deaths in Sweden as an example (because they didn’t have lockdown or use masks etc.) it’s only marginally higher in 2020.

Fortunately being able to prove that a person has accepted a vaccine shows people that they are committed to their responsibility to society in general, but specifically to those who have extremely poor health from sensitivities, inherited illness etc. All of these groups are tax payers who make it possible for everyone to enjoy the lifestyle that they do in Hungary. Liberties are just 1 side of the coin. Obligation is the other.
Co-operation under any circumstances always comes with privileges. Privileges are earned as a rule. The price here is the vaccine & proof thereof. Don’t look for excuses to make a fuss. Get with the program, get on with your life. go volunteer at a hospital in the meanwhile & help out in ways that require no special training but can free up more clever people to save lives.
